Underwater sports include a range of sports, mostly involving the use of swimfins and often including some element of breath-hold, snorkelling or scuba. The governance of these sports involves some controversies.
Some sports here are related to some events in sports lifesaving.
Underwater sports are typically considered to include:-
* Sub-aqua diving (also known as scuba)
* Finswimming
* Underwater hockey (more commonly known as Octopush)
* Underwater rugby
* Underwater orienteering
* Underwater target shooting
* Spearfishing
* Freediving
* Underwater photography
* Underwater ice hockey
* Underwater football (here the football refers to American Football not Association Football or any other variant)
* Aquathlon (underwater wrestling)
* Speed Lifesaving (there are several events in which fins are used)
A Lesson From the Zebrafish How to Mend a Broken Heart
An ability to regrow damaged or missing heart tissue makes the lowly zebrafish an ideal model for discovering new ways to repair human hearts, scientists say.
When a part of its heart is removed, the tiny zebrafish is a bit sluggish for a few days, but then appears normal within a month. This remarkable heart repair is achieved by differentiated cardiac muscle cells called cardiomyocytes -- not stem cells, but mature cells that normally supply the contractile force of the heart.
"What the results of our study show is that Mother Nature utilizes other ways besides going all the way back to pluripotent stem cells to regenerate tissues and organs," Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, a professor in the Gene Expression Laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in California, said in a news release.
The study appears in the March 25 issue of the journal Nature.
Prior to heart failure, damaged mammal heart muscle cells enter a state called hibernation, in which they stop contracting in an effort to survive. Mammal heart cell hibernation is significant, said study first author Chris Jopling, a postdoctoral fellow at the Center of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona, Spain.
"During heart regeneration in the zebrafish we found that cardiomyocytes displayed structural changes similar to those observed in hibernating cardiomyocytes," Jopling said in the news release. "Because of these similarities, we hypothesize that hibernating mammalian cardiomyocytes may represent cells that are attempting to proliferate."
"This idea fits nicely with the findings from a number of groups -- that forced expression of cell cycle regulators can induce cardiomyocyte proliferation in mammals. Maybe all they need is a bit of push in the right direction," Jopling said.
Researchers are looking for factors that supply that push.

Make World’s Biggest and Longest Chocolate Bar I was in Rivarolo near Turin in Italy to judge the attempt to set a new Guinness World Records achievement for the longest chocolate bar. The attempt was organised by Teorema d’Immagine on behalf of Rivarolo Urban Center, a shopping mall which opened recently. A. Giordano, a local chocolatier, had been commissioned to make the chocolate bar, which was to be displayed outside the shopping mall.
I watched as the chocolatiers laid out the massive bar, and a large crowd gathered. When the bar was in place they decorated it and we waited for the mayor to arrive before taking measurements.
When I had finished taking measurements I stood back and prepared to talk to the crowd gathered around the attempt area. The length to beat was 6.98 metres. The bar measured a phenomenal 11.57 metres, and to rapturous applause and cheering I presented an official Guinness World Records certificate to conclude the successful attempt.

Chinese doctors claim to have discovered the biggest case of man boobs in the world after a dairy farmer turned up at a specialist chest clinic in Beijing.
Doctor Zhang Lilan at the Jinan Chest Hospital said: "The man is in every way male except for his enormous breasts.
"He is a farmer and says they are extremely uncomfortable as he has to do a lot of manual work and they get in the way of everything.
"He said it has also attracted a lot of attention in the village where he comes from with people turning up to point and laugh at him, so much so that he now has to wear a heavy coat to cover up his figure even in the hottest weather."
The man, Guo Feng, 53, said: "About 10 years ago my chest started to get larger but I didn't think much of it as I was putting on weight all over - but in the last few years it's become unbearable and I have been from one hospital to the other with nobody able to help me.
"I have spent all my money on examinations and tests and am still no nearer a solution - in fact my breasts are now bigger than ever.
"I sometimes think the doctors don't want to help me with this because they find me a medical curiosity."
He says if no one can help him he will cut them off himself and has appealed for doctors to do something before that.
But the doctors say they do not want to act until they have identified what the problem is.
Doctor Zhang Lilan added: "In 30 years of working as specialist here at the chest clinic I have never seen anything like it."
Clinic boss Gaoyong Hong added: "We wondered if he had eaten any poisons or contaminants but have found nothing after testing his blood. His genetic material is also normal. We did an Xray. It is not a cancer. It seems to be fatty tissue - at the most the best we can suggest is that it is the biggest case of man boobs ever."

Three fingers on each of the boy's hands are also fused together by skin.
The boy, from Shenyang in China's north-eastern Liaoning province, beats the current world record held Indian boys Pranamya Menaria and Devendra Harne, who have 12 fingers and 13 toes.
Doctors will attempt to remove the boy's extra digits. underwent a 61/2-hour operation yesterday .
Such conditions are usually genetic, according to experts.

women's breast Pics (pictures,image, photos) volume, shape, size and spacing. A woman's breast volume may be more at the bottom, sides or top, and this will affect the boobs size actually needed. Bra sizes are merely a way of standardizing these factors for a "close" fit, which is not necessarily the correct fit. Bras typically have adjustable hooks that permit minor adjustments to a bra's fit.
In addition, there is considerable confusion as to bra sizes, with several different sizing systems in use around the world. cup size is then determined as the difference between the bust size and the band size
The bra size obtained using these sizing systems should not be regarded as definitive, particularly for larger cup sizes. In many cases it is not possible to accurately predict bra size using measurements alone because the actual volume of each cup size increases with the band size. This creates confusion in relation to cup sizes.
There is a common misconception that cup sizes are the same across all bra sizes,In sizing, cup sizes are as follows: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, KK. meaning that a B cup on a 34 is the same size as on a 36, but in fact they are relative to the size of the band, so the same cup size is bigger on a bigger band size. Bra manufacturers refer to a cup volume instead of to a cup size as defined above. For instance, the cup volume is the same for 30D, 32C, 34B, 36A, etc. It is for this reason that bra sizes have sister sizes that are related by having the same cup volume. Although it is important that a wearer has a correctly fitting bra, it is sometimes possible that two adjacent sister sizes both fit reasonably well, since the cup volume is the same, and the difference in band size can be accommodated by fastening the back on a different hook. However, fastening a bra initially on the smallest adjustment does not allow for tightening the band as the fabric begins to lose its elasticity.
In addition, many bra manufacturers, especially in the US, will add four, five or even six inches to the band size. There is no known reason for this practice, other than as an example of vanity sizing. The intention is that the purchaser will feel better by thinking she needs a low bra size. The add 4 to 5" practice was devised by Warners in 1935, but the practice continues to apply to modern bras.

Haramb Ashok Kumthekar Indian man is proud of the 12 fingers and 14 toes which have put him in the record books.
Rather than feel self conscious about the way he was born, Haramb Ashok Kumthekar has always celebrated his extra digits.
The 24-year-old business graduate was born with six fingers on each hand and seven toes on each foot.
This means he is the unofficial record holder for the most recorded number of fingers and toes on a living person.
However, he does not hold the Guinness world record which is held by fellow countryman Devendra Harne, who has 12 fingers and 13 toes on his feet.
Haramb does not hold the official record because, technically, some of his fingers are attached and are not classed as separate digits.
However, he is recognised by the Indian equivalent of the Guinness Book of Records, the Limca Book of Records.
Haramb's extra fingers and toes are caused by the medical condition polydactlyism, which comes from the Greek for "many fingers".
While each of Haramb's extra fingers and toes have separate bones, they don't all boast nerve endings and he is unable to move them or feel them all properly.
And while he is proud of his extra digits, Haramb admits that it can be frustrating at times, especially when it comes to finding shoes for his feet or gloves for his hands.

Hen lays figure eight-shaped egg in China
A hen in China has produced a soft-shelled egg in the shape of a figure eight.
Mrs Dong, of Shijiazhuang, northern China's Hebei province, first suspected something unusual when she heard the hen making unusual noises one night.
"I had never heard anything like it before. When I approached she stopped making the noise but as soon as I left she started again," she said.
"The next morning, I was so surprised to find the weird-shaped egg in the hen's cage."
Mrs Dong said her neighbours had all been coming around to her home to see the egg for themselves.
She has decided not to sell or eat the egg but is keeping it, preserved in a box, because it is so unusual.
Professor Wu Yuefeng of Hebei University's Life Science department, said: "It's very rare to see such a weird-shaped egg.
"This will be the result of a lack of calcium in the hen's diet which has prevented it from creating a hard shell."
